Petty Officer IV Class - Destroyer Flotilla:
The German Navy's destroyer flotillas were involved in many operations throughout the war. Ranging from battles with the Royal Navy in Norway to attacks on Arctic convoys in the later war period, these Windhunds of the sea were in constant action. This Petty Officer works in engineering or as a propulsion mate, making sure the ship can make the speed at any time.
He has seen action in several combat patrols, shown by his Destroyer Battle Badge. His actions during a combat patrol have been rewarded with the War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords. He was part of the fleet blocking Russian ports and patrolling frigid Russian waters during the first winter of the Campaign in the East and has been awarded that medal. His uniform is completed by the overseas cap or Bordmutz and blue woolen trousers.
