My Modified-1/24th Scale Tiger I:

Tamiya 1/25th Scale Tiger I Kit.

I made this when I could not have been more than 15 or 16 years old. It was an attempt to make Michael Wittmann’s Tiger-Tank, thinking he served in one, with very little information on him at the time. Not realizing he had done his deeds in at least three different Tigers, fighting in them at Kursk, and Normandie, mixing early with late models, and created this mid-version he never had! Marking for one of the early vehicles he used, it is a complete mistake, but I didn’t stop there, adding or redoing the kit’s interior! From what I could gather at the time, the model is still precious to me because there was so much work that went into it. And without realizing how bad I was screwing up, I late found out that there were 3 main variants of the Tiger !, the early, mid, and late type hulls, and that he used the early and later versions. But I was close, sorta. These pictures were taken back in the late 1970s. I still have the pictures (albeit all rolled up) and the tank model, stuffed away in my new model case. I’ll add some new ones to the kit one day. That it still exists makes me happy. The first few pictures were actully taken by my good buddy, Ray, in High School, he had a photography class, I think, we fooled around one day at any rate, and he developed them and gave them to me. I believe he went on to get married, to be quite prosperous, and have a big family, ending up in Utah, I think. He was moving way faster than me, way ahead of the game. I was lost in Alaska for 40 years. Anyways, the next bunch I did with obviously not the greatest camera, about 10 or more years ago, likely in a hurry as usual, sitting on an Insta-base, on my pool table…tried to open it up to show it… miserable failure there. I will get some better ones taken one day.
